Many of you have probably already seen the news footage of the tornadoes that hit parts of the country this weekend. We have a friend whose family has lost their home in one of these tornadoes.
We are requesting a “Call to Action” from our readers to help them through the process of getting back on their feet and rebuilding their lives.
To find out more about what happened in their community of Reading, Kansas, check out this article from CNN.
Now is the time we can put our couponing skills to good use by sending over some of our extra products from our stockpiles, as well as getting other essentials, to donate to their community. Any help is appreciated!
Here is the note from our friend, Kim’s, sister:
Dear Friends,
I have had so many requests from people asking how they can support and help my family out right now that I wanted to first, express my immense gratitude to you all and to give a brief update. As of this Monday morning, there was a small army of friends, family and volunteers descending on Reading to start the clean up efforts. My parents still don’t know where they’ll be staying after they leave the hotel or what are all the next steps involved in the recovery. This is an extremely difficult process in which those details will emerge with each day and each step forward. Please know all your words of love, encouragement and support along with their own amazing strength is what is carrying them through these tough first days and will continue to do so in the months to come!
Right now, they really have very little in terms of daily living necessities, so anything you would like to contribute would be very much appreciated. I would suggest the following:
Written personal messages
Cash donations (for laundry, daily clean-up supplies, clothing, etc)
Wal-Mart gift cards
Dillons Grocery gift cards (or any Kroger owned grocers) http://www.dillons.com/gift_center/gc/Pages/default.aspx
Please send any contributions you would like to make to me to the address below, and I will deliver them either by mail or when I head to Reading sometime in the next couple weeks.
Thank you again. It is hard to find the words to express how honored and grateful I feel for all your support for my family right now, but please know that it does truly help. Many blessings to you~

Maria, I can’t even express how grateful I am to you for this amazing gesture. As my sister said, the love and support has poured in from so many family and friends and it is truly humbling to know that we have so many wonderful people in our lives. Whatever help could be given would be incredibly appreciated and put to good use as they pack up their lives and figure out the next step. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, from my family and all of Reading.
Kim, our thoughts, prayers, and love go out to you, your family, and the whole town of Reading. Please let us know if there is more we can do to help.
