What is the Boost Your Budget Pantry Challenge? This January we, along with our other co-hosts, challenged ourselves by eating from our pantries and stockpiles. This was not a “no spend” month, this was a “make do with what you have on hand and spend as little as possible” month. Since everybody’s goals are different and will depend on their own household needs, we each set our own rules. The point was to start off the new year by boosting our budgets using what we already have!
Our overall goal for this pantry challenge was to “boost our budget” by spending no more than $200 this month on grocery and expenses from eating out in January.
FINAL UPDATE:
We learned a lot from this Pantry Challenge, which truly taught us how to eat out of our stockpile and learn how to make meals using what we already have in our pantry. Although we went a little over our monthly budget for groceries and eating out, we found that we did spend more time eating at home and making meals that could stretch over a couple of days. Our amount over budget was due to the fact that there were a few things that were on sale in January that were at stock-up prices, so we purchased more of those. However, that means that we will be able to use it to encourage us to continue eating out of our pantry and stockpile. How did you do in your goals for the Boost Your Budget Pantry Challenge?
Last week’s winner of the $25 Coupon Clutch gift certificate is Danielle from The Frugal Navy Wife.
