{#TypeAwithBrica} How We Are Making Together Better

We just returned from the 2012 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration a week ago and of all the amazing speakers that were there, one quote stuck in my head the most, “You only have 18 summers.” Amy Foster told us this as she spoke about how you really only have 18 summers with your child before they go off to college, become adults, start working, start their families, etc. As I heard that, I did the mental calculation of how many summers I had left with each of my children before they embark on their journeys to adulthood, and it jolted me into reality – I am already less than halfway there with my oldest child and the others are closely following.

As I think about it even more, I realize why time seems to be passing so quickly. Each day, Jim and I are juggling a household of six people that includes a full-time job, a family business, transporting kids to and from school and their after-school activities, as well as our own additional commitments. When you throw in the chores and other things that need to be done around the house, a 24-hour day can be eaten up pretty fast, and before you know it, another week, another month, another year has passed.

That is why we choose to have quality moments with our kids. Even if the little moments are just to say “I love you” or “I’m proud of you,” we know that these are things that they will carry along with them throughout their lives. Sometimes the little moments might be just sharing a laugh or a hug with each other. These are so easy to do even on your busiest days. Many times it can give you the much-needed smile you need to get you through the rest of your busy day.  We also encourage them to do that with each other and with those around them – spread a little happiness – it’s contagious.

These are our four major reasons that we want to have as many quality little moments as possible:

Brica’s motto is “Making Together Better.” They are a company that offers products that help families run their lives smoother so that we have time to enjoy the little moments. They are sponsors of the upcoming Type-A Conference and have graciously offered a contest to provide a registration pass, hotel accomodations, and travel expenses to one person (this post is my contest entry).

Why I would love to represent Brica if I am selected:

Jim and I started A Savings WOW! as our way of making together better (it is now our family business). We started money-saving and deal-seeking as a way to run our family’s lives smoother, to be able to enjoy our lives without breaking the bank. It is through this passion that we started our blog and money-saving classes to show others how to do it without having to re-create all of the work that we’d already done.  Our readers could spend the time and money they save on the more important things in life. This is very similar to Brica’s motto and mindset.

When we had our first child, we read all of the baby books and would take everything they suggested with us whenever we’d leave the house. By the time our second child was born, we learned what things we didn’t need to bring with us anymore and left those things at home. By the time our third child was born (she was our 3rd child in 3 years), we just brought the essentials with us whenever we’d leave the house. By the time our fourth child was born a couple of years later, we all but abandoned the big diaper bag and instead opted for products that could serve multiple purposes with ease and convenience. With our brood, we definitely appreciate the products that help us get out of the house faster, run our errands smoother, and enjoy our time together better.  Because I have experience in this area, I can share my personal experiences while sharing information about Brica’s products.

Attending a conference like Type-A Parent, where the multi-role of blogger, parent, and businessperson is not only understood, but encouraged, would be an honor. Learning from others who will help us understand what is needed to take our many roles to the next level would be very beneficial. I also look forward to meeting companies, like Brica, who are excited to work with sites such as ours.

We know that we are not the only ones that are doing things to make together better, so let us know – how are you “Making Together Better” in your family? (Leave a comment below.)
