It’s Hispanic Heritage Month! The observation of Hispanic Heritage started in 1968 with the creation of Hispanic Heritage Week. In 1988, it was expanded to a month long observation. Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15th and goes through October 15th. Mexico’s Independence Day is on September 16th. Hispanic Heritage Month also celebrates the independence of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, Chile and Belize.
Mexican Independence Day Parade:
In Chicago, there’s many ways to celebrate the rich Hispanic culture. The Mexican Independence Day Parade is this Sunday, September 11th, beginning at 11 am at 26th Street and Kostner Avenue, Chicago, IL 60623. According to the current forecasts, the weather should be great for a parade this weekend.
